Terms of Service
Last updated: 14 August 2026
Welcome to RoomieHQ. By using our website or app, you agree to these terms. Please read them — they're written to be readable.
1. What RoomieHQ is
RoomieHQ is a tool that helps housemates record and split shared expenses, settle up, and organise chores. It is a record-keeping and organising tool. It is not a bank, a payment processor, or a money-transfer service — RoomieHQ shows who owes whom, but any actual payments happen directly between you and your housemates, outside the app.
2. Your account
You're responsible for activity under your account and for keeping access to your email secure, since sign-in happens by email link. Please provide accurate information and keep your household's details honest — the app is only as fair as what everyone puts in.
3. Acceptable use
Don't use RoomieHQ to break the law, harass others, or disrupt the service. Don't attempt to access households or data you're not a member of. We may suspend accounts that abuse the service.
4. Your content
The information you add — expenses, names, chores, notes — belongs to you and your household. You grant us permission to store and display it as needed to run the service (for example, showing it to the other members of your household and syncing it across devices).
5. Money between housemates is between housemates
Balances, settle-up suggestions, and payment records in RoomieHQ are for your convenience and reflect what you and your housemates enter. They are not financial or legal advice, and they are not proof of payment. Any disputes about who owes what, or whether a payment was actually made, are between you and your housemates to resolve.
6. Early access & availability
RoomieHQ is an early-access product provided "as is" and "as available". We're actively improving it, and features may change, and occasionally things may not work perfectly. We don't guarantee uninterrupted or error-free service, and you should keep your own record of anything important.
7. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, RoomieHQ isn't liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for any amounts owed between housemates, arising from your use of the service. The service is provided without warranties of any kind, except those that can't be excluded by law.
8. Ending use
You can stop using RoomieHQ at any time and ask us to delete your account (see our Privacy Policy). We may suspend or end access if these terms are breached.
9. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the product develops. We'll update the "last updated" date above, and significant changes will be communicated where practical. Continuing to use RoomieHQ after a change means you accept the updated terms.
