RoomieHQ ("RoomieHQ", "we", "us") helps housemates split shared expenses and organise chores. This policy explains what information we collect, why, and the choices you have. We keep it plain: we don't sell your data, and we don't show you ads.
Who we are
RoomieHQ operates the website at roomiehq.com and the RoomieHQ app. If you have any questions about this policy or your data, contact us at hello@roomiehq.com.
Information we collect
- Your email address — when you join the waitlist or sign in to the app. We use email-link ("magic link") sign-in, so we don't store passwords.
- The information you enter into a household — such as housemate display names, expenses, amounts, chores, shopping-list items, and payment records. You choose what to add.
- Basic usage data — privacy-friendly, aggregated analytics about which pages are visited, to understand what's useful and improve the product. This does not identify you personally and is not used to track you across other websites.
We do not collect or store your bank details or process any payments — RoomieHQ tracks who owes whom, but any actual money moves between housemates outside the app.
How we use your information
- To provide the service — create your household, calculate balances, sync data between housemates, and rotate chores.
- To send you your sign-in link, and (if you joined the waitlist) occasional product updates you can opt out of at any time.
- To keep the service secure and to understand and improve how it's used.
Who we share it with
We don't sell your data. We use a small number of trusted service providers ("subprocessors") purely to run RoomieHQ:

Within a household, the information you add is visible to the other members of that household — that's the point of a shared house app. It is never visible to people outside your household.
Cookies & tracking
We use only what's needed to run the service — for example, a secure token to keep you signed in. Our analytics are privacy-friendly and do not use invasive advertising cookies or track you across other sites.
Data retention & your choices
- You can leave a household at any time, and remove expenses or items you added (subject to the app's rules).
- You can ask us to delete your account and associated personal data by emailing hello@roomiehq.com.
- You can unsubscribe from product emails using the link in any email, or by contacting us.
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or export your personal data, and to object to certain processing. To exercise any of these, just email us.
Security
Data is encrypted in transit, and access to household data is restricted so that only members of a household can see it. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information.
Children
RoomieHQ isn't directed at children and isn't intended for anyone under 16. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we'll remove it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the product grows. We'll update the "last updated" date above, and for significant changes we'll do our best to let you know.
